The KGLC Tallgrass Range School was completed on Thursday, August 2, at Camp Wood YMCA with 35 students over the three-day agenda. Students were engaged in plant identification, measuring and monitoring, and other hands-on exercises. They visited the John and Annie Wilson Ranch on Wednesday to see and hear about their operation. And, that evening after the steak fry, Annie entertained the group with her music. The School culminated with a plant identification opportunity where students tested their skills on 36 marked plants. The top scores were rewarded with a choice from selected plant identification books...note that all students received an identification field guide courtesy of the US Fish and Wildlife Service Partners Program.
