Ladies 2013

British Heart Foundation

Club Captain’s Charity 2014

In my year as Captain, I have decided to support the British Heart Foundation. Yes its personal - I lost my father due to heart problems. But, talking to many other people, it appears that most have a relative or friend who has suffered from some form of heart disease. Therefore, let’s do something about it!

I will be looking to hold raffles, as well as the Charity Day scheduled for Sunday 31st August. I have also left a British Heart Foundation collection box on the bar so please feel free to contribute as much loose change as possible when passing.

Many thanks in advance for your support.

Rob Wild.

  • Captain's Drive-In/Drive-Out! Sunday 8th January, 2017

Sunday, 8th January saw the end of an era as our beloved captain for 2016,  Brian Avery, handed over the reins to Tony Power at the Captain's Drive In/Drive Out, after 12 months at the helm. On behalf of all the members, we would like to thank Brian for all his sterling work and hope he enjoys his well-earned rest in the Past Captain's role !

On a wet and damp morning, the pair hit two, true to form, magnificent shots..... Brian out of bounds left and Tony in the trees right! But Brian's ball was caught by Brian Sanford and Tony's by Mike Austin. Over 30 people, men & ladies, enjoyed a rain-free game, with sandwiches & chips, and the ceremonies thereafter. Brian relinquished his tie to Tony and was himself presented with a Past Captain's tie.

Our new Captain announced his Vice-Captain for 2017 - Lawrence Geary, who will be looking after the Club fixtures this year and assisting Tony in his duties. Congratulations Lawrence!

The Stableford competition itself was most enjoyable and the winners on the day were Cliff Oliver (40pts) for the men and Gill Garcia (36pts) for the ladies. Well done to both of you !

Good luck to both Tony & Lawrence for 2017 !

  • Tony and Mike pick up some Duty-free!
At the recent Beaujolais Nouveau Competition at Wimereux Golf Club in France, Mike Dean and Tony Power won the gross prize for which they received a dozen bottles of wine each. They also won the prize for the best score of all teams from Kent and Surrey, for which (as you can see) they won the Brake Disc Trophy also known as the Shortest Drive trophy (ask James Parker for details!). Tony said the greens were easy to read, even though they are written in French, because he is Bi-Lingual (he speaks fluent English and Gibberish!
