Parimal Chakraborty

PARIMAL CHAKRABORTY is hailed as one of the India’s leading tabla player today. He inherited an atmosphere congenial to music from a family of genuine music lovers.
Parimal started and exploring the hidden joys of music from the tender age of four under the able guidance of his father Sri Nikhil Chandra Chakrabarty, Ram Dhrubey and Late Padmabhushan Pandit Gnan Prakash Ghosh. From the year of 1976 he is the tutelage of versatile master Pandit Shankar Ghosh a doyen of the famous Farukkabad Gharana. Under his brilliant guidance Parimal has adopted the typical aspect and the features of Farukkabad Gharana in his own style.

He received President award in the year of 1989 and West Bengal Music Academy Scholarship in 1991. He is one of the few direct “A” Grade artists of All India Radio, Kolkata. Parimal has given performances at almost all major conferences throughout the country with well known artist like Biswa Mohan Bhatt, Jagdish Prasad, V.G. Jog, Kartik Kumar, Moni Prasad, Pravakar Karekar, Arti Ankelekar, Samaresh Chowdhuri,  Indranil Bhattacharya, Sanjoy Bandopadhyay, Alok Lahiri, Ali Ahemed Hussain, Ashis Khan and many others.

He has given more than fifty National Programme of Akashbani and Doordarshn including Akashvani Sangeet Sammelan.

He has performed widely in several European countries since 1994. He  visited  Germany, Holland, Belgium, France, Itali, Spain, Switzerland, and Bangladesh. Recently he gave a concert at a World Music Festival in France.
