A  big  ‘Thank You’ to social sectretary Andy Lynes  for all the time and effort he put into organising the Christmas Club night last week – everyone  thoroughly enjoyed themselves … the mulled wine went down particularly well!

There was Christmas music, twinkly lights and roaring fire, as well as members playing tennis in Sanat suits ... quite strange to watch!!

Afterwards everyone tucked into a warming chilli and more mulled wine.

Guy Hill

posted 1 Dec 2013 03:57 by Moya Meredith

The Committee are delighted to announce that our very own Grounds man -  Guy Hill -  was shortlisted for the Cheshire East Volunteer of the Year award. These annual awards go to Sports Clubs of every type across East Cheshire, so to make it onto the short list is a fantastic achievement.

Many members are completely unaware of the many volunteer hours that Guy puts into clearing and maintaining the courts, in fact it's his tireless attention that  ensures  our courts stay playable all year round. So, if you see Guy at the club please congratulate him and also thank him for the great work he does in helping keep the courts free of leaves, moss, snow and ice.

We held a very successful open day on Saturday 22nd June with lots of interest from potential new members. Fortunately the weather stayed dry giving everyone the chance to try out the courts. All 7 courts were full of activity all afternoon. For those of a more sedentary disposition there was a bottle tombola and tea and cakes!

Club and Red Nose Fund Raiser

Twenty lady members and guests braved the cold and drizzle at Knutsford Tennis Club on Saturday March 9th, to raise funds for the club and for Red Nose Day. Some fun,  competitive tennis was played by all,  followed by a buffet afterwards.

The tournament was organised  by  club member Christine Al-zidgali  who was delighted to present  the winner of the tournament – Vicky Robertson - with a tennis bag donated by Monkhouse Sports and a gift voucher from Rose Bank Sports Northwich.

Surprise guest  ‘Ms Dawinna Sharapova’  caused a stir when ‘she’ arrived and went on to win the prize for best dressed player .  Christine gave special thanks to Rebecca Jamison and  Debbie Martin for their help and to the NE Cheshire League and Cheshire Country LTA for donating the tennis balls. A great time was had by all.
