George Washington Long

 

  • 1845 – Born Feb. 20, 1845

  • 1850 – (from 1850 Union Co. Census) – Shows he was age 4 living at home with parents Drury and Margaret (Peggy) with brothers Peter age 10, Joseph  age 8, William (Bill) age 6 and sister Margaret age 1
  • 1860 - Lived in house with parents Drury & Margaret (Peggy)

     Listed as a farmhand age15 also in home was his

     brothers William (Bill) age 17, Drury Jr. age 8

     and sister Margaret age 10.

  • 1870 - Not shown living with parents in 1870 fannin census. 1870 Gordon county Census shows a George W. Long age 21 in the household of a Sarah Ann Baugh (age 36). He is listed as working on the farm.  Also listed in that household is Martha age 10, James Greenway age 13 and a female Hutchensons age 70. Can’t be for certain that this is our same George W. But it is probable.
  • 1880 – (from Gilmer co. census 1880)

Shown as a servant age 30 in the household of Martha Colbert age 80, and 3 daughters Martha  L. age 36, Rebecca J. age 28, Smtha L. age 26.

  • 1890 - no info
  • 1900 – 1900 Fannin County Census list George W. Long age 55 as head of household with wife Hattie age 27, son Gene C. (Cliff) age 6, son Floid T (Floyd) age 5, daughter Nettie D. (Daisy) age 2, daughter Mary C. (Tamer) age 1 month and a servant named Lee B. Schruggs age 11. 

  • 1910 – (from 1910 Fannin Co. census) - shown as head of house with wife Harriett, son Cliff age 16, son Floyd age 14, daughter Nettie (Daisy) age 12, daughter Tamer age 10, show a son named Collins age 6. Not familiar to me is who used this name "Collins" He did have a son born Nov. 11 1905 who died as a boy named Doc, this must have been who this refers to. 
  • 1920 – 1920 Fannin Census, Stockhill District list George W. Long as head of household age 78 with wife Hattie age 49 and sons Lewis age 17, Blufford 11, age and Blaine age 9.
  • 1930 – 1930 Fannin Census, StockHill District taken on April 1 of that year list George W. Long as head of household age 94 with wife Harriett age 59 and sons Clifford age 36, Lewis age 24, Bluford age 22, Blaine age 19 and Grandson Gene age 10. Died April 29, 1930.
