Purpose: PTA Board Meeting


  1. Principal/ Vice Principal Update: Mary Wood, Vice Principal, Klatt Elementary

    1. 6-7 weeks back in building - 2 Covid cases; appropriate responses have been made (both cases were contracted outside Klatt)

      1. Safety & Quarantine Procedure are in place

      2. Teachers are encouraging safe practices, handwashing, distancing

    2. Approaching Peaks assessment - March 25th approx for test administration training

      1. PEAKS - 1 Day - Math, 1 Day - Reading

    3. Looking for assistance in individually snacks for 3-6 grades during Peaks testing

      1. Granola bars, cheese sticks, goldfish, gogurts - easy to eat and simple

      2. 150 snacks - two sittings

      3. Jo Michaels - will look into Duane Anderson’s connection

      4. Will get dates asap

      5. Snack Requirements: Can be eaten w/in 5-10 min breaktime

      6. 150 quantity - check w/ Alison

    4. PTA Family Night - Skate Night

      1. Barriers: having enough skates so potentially staggering schedule?

      2. Hot chocolate

      3. Jo - not enough skates isn’t necessarily an issue, previous years - On Person (adult on ice) 2 people inside w/ skates, attendance was build up, 1 ½ hours - 2 hours before - Bonfire and Hot Cocoa, started 5:30pm - 7pm on Wed & Sat

      4. Mary will get dates/ times

      5. Grades K-6

      6. Ice Rink will be maintained up to first week of April

    5. Movie Night - Fridays - Return? Virtual option? PTA has a license for screenings.



  1. PTA Organizational Update

    1. Approve Minutes

    2. PTA Insurance - Update & ASD, sent to Klatt Elementary w/ updated insurance

    3. PTA Membership Enlistment

      1. Enlistment in Process

      2. Processing Membership - tools in Member Hub/ check and see if PTA leadership is already in MemberHub and just payment required?

      3. Goal to have everything set up for when school returns for membership

      4. Member feedback, Paula Kangis sent in a completed membership form (thank you!)

    1. Yearbook Update (Abi)

      1. Legally no barriers to us creating a yearbook apart from lifetouch

      2. Memory Book possibility - blank book that the kids could receive and fill out, especially for 6th graders

      3. Asking teachers to take pictures of classrooms or using proofs of Lifetouch for classrooms

      4. 6th grade - Rising up, dedicated book/version

    2. PPE Request - large gloves (& look for clorox wipes)

    3. Klatt Spirit Gear - option on MemberHub

      1. Klatt PTA Design Competition

        1. Whole school - turn in to PTA office - we choose top 5 and then school votes

        2. Can have a flyer that they can fill out and give cash and we can just purchase it online for them with our PTA card

      2. Look into BelieveKids - interim store

      3. Send everyone the the info for local options

    4. BelieveKids Fundraising - Pre-Registration

    1. PTA Family Night - Ice Skating

    2. Memory Book planning

I. Photos submitted to PTA can be used in the Memory Book. Using Jotform for submission (permission request documented) or images emailed directly to PTA from staff adhering to media release practices.

Ii. 6th Grade Photos - Rising Up

Iii. Pages - Signature, Scrapbook, etc.

Iv. KCC can print copies of memory book for low cost / free

  1. 6th Grade Rising Up Ceremony

  2. PPE Request: Large Gloves needed, Mask supply is good, masks were donated, School paid for additional desk shields, plastic shields in January $800

  3. Spirit Gear - Ongoing planning - chose vendor, online purchase option, create flyer, zip hoodie, design, kids artwork, staff logo ideas, etc. sweat band, online shopping
    Options for cash purchase, Alaska Serigraphics? Need new or existing logo,
    Plans to have design contest, can submit in color or black and white

  4. Art - Not even in classes, school day is shorter

  5. Pencil Full of Star? Inside Class/Submission, 5th & 6th Grade -
    I. Art/Writing Program: Poetry, Short Story, Rap Battle? Poetry Reading


  1. Upcoming Events/ New Community Interactions

  • Virtual Family Night, April 30th 5pm
