Purpose: PTA Board Meeting


  1. Principal/ Vice Principal Update: Mary Wood, VP Klatt

    1. PPE Support Needs -

1. Average in-person 260 Students


2. Current PPE Status: Large Supply of Masks, Location: Resource Room


3. Mitigation Plan - Students & Staff are responding, Community is Prepared

Teachers are assisting with student meals, working in smaller groups


4. PPE NEEDS: Size ‘L’ & “XL’ Gloves, Special Education Dept: Gowns

Krista (comment): Need Clorox wipes for Classrooms, MIcrofiber, paper towels to clean [face]shields, school has washer/dryer, able to sterilize onsite (need color safe bleach?)

    2. Onsite pickup location changing to Mears Jr HS

  2. Spirit Wear

    1. Possible Vendors - High Resolution Serigraphics, Alaska Serigraphics

    4. Online Store - Can order online & pickup at school
    5. Krista (recommendation) Offer online and in person order/accept cash

    1. Great experience with Klatt Family Night, Wed, Feb 17th - Virtual Escape Rm
    2. School Wide Plan - Needs Assessment: Academic, SEL, Attendance, issues with chronic absenteeism (distance learning)


  1. PTA Organizational Update

    1. Lindsey’s transition update - Standing back but standing by

    2. PTA Insurance - Updating, AIM for ASD new requirements, just notified via ASD

    3. PTA Membership Enlistment

      1. Student Flyers - Translating Flyers, 3 total English, Spanish & Hmong

      2. Facebook Events - Consider Post Meeting Dates

      3. Brochure? - Trifold, address common barriers, create engaging info, highlight benefits to children, not a lot of fundraising effort at this time but can raise awareness of simple fundraising efforts, i.e. Fred Meyer Reward Signup, etc, Box Tops (Now an app), etc.

      4. Social Media - Facebook, TikTok? Videos on enrollment, Homework help, etc
        Create incentives, candy, enter drawings, gift cards, and games, hashtags

      5. Hardcopy mailouts - Outreach via flyers, etc

    1. Approve last meeting notes - January, 2021

    2. Restock Coffee - PTA

    3. Donation of Microwaves (2 total)

    4. Binder / Pass Folder (Krista & Alison), ordering online, reimbursement from PTA


Feedback from Staff: Snacks are good, Morale is low, Stocking the Breakrooms has helped

    2. Memory Book / ScrapBook for Students Proposed - possible use of Lifetouch photos

    3. No new badges for staff, no photos

    4. Gaming Permit - F/U w/ Sarah Alborn

    5. Grants - Register with TechSoup, apply for grant, discount for Quickbooks

    6. Alaska Microgrant - Food Security Grant Partnership w/ Denali Montessori

    7. Good Non-Profit Status w/ Alaska PTA per April Eide, President, Alaska PTA

    8. Fundraisers - Believe Kids, Spirit Gear, Fall Fundraisers, Skate-a-thon, Jog-a-thon, Jump Rope-for-hope, Pennies for Patients, Read-a-thon, Dinner Factory, Usborne, DoorDash, Ski-a-thon, eSports (ExtraLife) Donate Online - Memberhub, Discounted Gift Cards
      Prizes from Amazon, Party City.

    9. Looks for way to fundraise that help families, keeps economic pressure off

    10. Reviewing old notes - Believe Kids was PTA’s biggest fundraiser

    11. Joanna Osborne - Helped w/ Jog-a-thon

    12. Ask for help with TikTok from Klatt Families, Members

    13. Spring Break - Some families vacationing

    14. Vaccines - ASD Teachers are able to receive vaccines, some have 2nd does already
