I am working as a Professor at the Department of Chemistry, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Chennai. Our group is working on the development of materials using graphene derivatives, metal oxy/oxide nanoparticle hybrids, functionalized clays, silica/carbon hybrids towards clean technologies. Our group along with others are exploiting the chemistry, interfacial properties and reactivity of FG towards designing new graphene derivatives and hybrids towards oil-water separation and self-cleaning FG polymer nanocomposites towards Membrane Distillation. Besides developing electrode substrates using transition metal oxide particles encapsulated over reduced graphene oxide for electrocatalytic oxygen reduction/evolution reactions. My long term goal is to design a “cost-effective” advanced materials showcasing “multifunctional properties” for applicability in environment and energy.
