About me:

I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of California, Riverside (UCR). Before joining UCR, I worked as a Post-Doctoral Researcher in Robotics in GRASP Lab, which is part of the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Applied Mechanics at the University of Pennsylvania (Penn). My work was supported by Dr. Vijay Kumar, Professor and Nemirovsky Family Dean of Penn Engineering. I completed my doctoral studies in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Delaware, under the guidance of Prof. Herbert Tanner and Prof. Ioannis Poulakakis. Prior to my graduate studies, I received a Diploma in Mechanical Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), Greece. At NTUA I worked with Prof. Kostas Kyriakopoulos in the Control Systems Laboratory on the automated assembly of a cellular reconfigurable robotic system as part of my Diploma Thesis.

My research interests lie in the intersection of dynamical systems, robotics, control and machine learning. Specifically, I seek to develop new mathematical and computational tools for resilient (semi-)autonomous robot navigation under uncertain and stochastic effects that arise naturally during robot deployment in real-world settings. Some representative areas of my research include modeling and control of nonlinear uncertain and stochastic systems, uncertainty quantification and probabilistic model validation, as well as motion planning, navigation and control of underactuated small-scale legged and aerial robots under uncertainty.
