Meet Mrs. Jenkins

3rd Grade Teacher

This is my fifth year teaching at Grattan Academy.  I have taught four years in third and fourth grade and this will be my first year teaching second grade. Every year has been exciting and memorable  as I have been fortunate to teach such wonderful students.  Grattan Academy is a great place where I truly enjoy being around such enthusiastic students, staff, and parents.

I have been married to my husband Mark for six years and we have a baby boy named Asa. I love spending time with my friends and family, kayaking with my husband, scrap-booking, roller-blading, and vacationing to new places.

Here’s a bit more about my educational background.  I graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Geography.  I went on to  receive my teacher certification with a reading minor from Aquinas College. I am at this time working towards my M.ED with Emphasis in Educational Differentiation.

In my classroom, I promote an atmosphere of safety, trust, and respect. I work hard to build a sense of community among my students, and I emphasize the idea of teamwork. I value cooperation and collaboration both in my classroom and as I work with my peers.  I believe that great things can happen when we work together! Grattan is a place where I really feel like part of a strong community and part of a winning team.
