Cognitive Development and Media Lab

The Cognitive Development and Media Lab is directed by Dr. Heather Kirkorian at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. We study how children play and learn in the digital age. For example: 

• How do family stress and wellbeing relate to children's media use?

• What is the impact of background television on play and parent-child interactions?

• What types of educational media are most effective for preschoolers?

• Can babies actually learn from Baby Einstein?

The Cognitive Development and Media Lab may be accepting new graduate students for the upcoming 2027-28 academic year, depending on funding availability.
