Dear visitor,

we would like to welcome you to the website of the church Saint Peter and Paul in Göda. For the small village in the heart of the Upper Lusatia, the church is of particular importance to the population. Its characteristic two towers can be seen from far away when you approach the commune. They somehow symbolize the change of that church through the ages as they have been modified several times.
In 1076 the first church in Göda was built. Nearly five hundred years later in the late Gothic period (1505-1517) the church obtained its current shape. There do still exist some things out of that time, for example the altar made of stone (1512), the pulpit (1514), or the sundial (1515).
Now, for nearly a thousand years Christians sing and pray in our church. It is for all people, no matter if they are Christians or not, the important centre of their home. A lot of activities and different circles for children, adolescents, adults or music-lovers show that our confraternity is vivid and active.
This website shall give you a brief glimpse what’s the life in our confraternity like. For example, you’ll get to know different groups, like our trombone band, or find detailed information on the history of the church. and you’ll see all dates of the upcoming events in our calendar.

If you have any questions or if you would like to have more detailed information, don’t hesitate to ask us.
