SESP Groups Preconference 2018

The 2018 SESP Groups Preconference will be held on Thursday, October 4 at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Seattle, WA. The preconference is open to SESP members and non-members, and is co-organized by Cydney Dupree, Jonathan Kunstman, and Kimberly Rios. It will begin at 8:30am and end at 4:30pm with breakfast, lunch, and one coffee break included for attendees. Registration instructions for the preconference can be found through the main conference wepage (www.sesp.org/annualconference). SESP 2018 Groups Preconference Postdoc/Grad Student Data Blitz Call

In addition to the invited faculty speakers, several postdocs / advanced grad students will be selected to give 10 minute talks as part of a data blitz. Advanced graduate students and postdocs who study any aspect of group dynamics or intergroup processes can apply to give a blitz talk by emailing completed application materials to Jonathan Kunstman (jonathan.kunstman@miamioh.edu). Please note that the maximum abstract length is 250 words.

Application Materials include:

1)      Applicant’s name and institution
2)      Current position (graduate student/post-doc)
3)      Blitz Abstract

The following criteria will be used to evaluate the blitz abstracts:

1)      Research focuses on groups or intergroup processes (broadly defined)
2)      Methodological rigor
3)      Theoretical contribution to the psychological study of groups
4)      Practical significance for intragroup or intergroup relations

Submissions will be accepted until August 10. Applicants selected to give blitz talks will be notified in late-August.
