Dr. Eom received Ph.D. and M.S.E. degrees from the Department of Aerospace Engineering and Engineering Mechanics in the University of Texas at Austin in 2005 and 2003, respectively. The title of a dissertation for the doctorate degree is "Mechanical Modeling of Proteins", where Dr. Eom described the coarse-grained modeling of protein molecules for understanding their mechanical response.
Dr. Eom has conducted interdisciplinary researches in the area of biological science, and nanoscale science based on the principles of mechanics, chemistry, physics, and materials science.
The research works of Dr. Eom's have been published in internationally renowned journals including Physics Reports, Angewandte Chemie, ACS Nano, Advanced Functional Materials, Chemical Communications, Scientific Reports, and so forth. Dr. Eom has published more than 50 journal articles that were cited more than 600 times (from Web of Science as of September, 2015). Dr. Eom published one book, entitled "Simulations in Nanobiotechnology" (CRC Press, 2011), where Dr. Eom and his colleagues articulate the current issues on the simulation/modeling techniques that have been employed for studying the nano-scale behaviors of synthetic nanomaterials and biological materials.
