The State Fair of Texas Livestock Department, Southwest Dairy Farmers and Texas AgriLife Extension Service invite YOU to participate in a program focusing on agricultural education for urban youth. Kids & Critters aims to increase student's appreciation of agriculture in their lives.
Kids & Critters a free educational learning excursion for public and private schools in 2nd and 3rd grade attending school in Dallas County. However, school outside of Dallas County are encouraged to register.
Event Dates and Tour Times

Program lasts approximately 3 hours, not including drive time
Tours 1 and 2: Arrival 9:15, Tour 9:30 to 12:30
Tours 3 and 4: Arrival 9:30, Tour 10:00 to 1:00
Tours 5 and 6: Arrival 10:15, Tour 10:30 to 1:30
There is NO ADMISSION CHARGE to participating schools, however, schools must provide their own transportation and lunch for the event. Kids & Critters confirmation packets will include complimentary bus parking and admission to the Fair grounds for all participating students, teachers and chaperons.
Kid & Critter Learning Stations
Students will be involved in critical listening and observation, the goal being to raise awareness and to create opportunities to think and discuss their roles in the world of agriculture. Kids & Critters complies with 2nd and 3rd grade TEKS.
Educational Milking Parlor: Students will see milking demonstrations and learn about various types of dairy cattle.
Just the Facts: Experts explain the role of various farm animals
Ag Magic: Learn the importance of farmers and how life would be without them. NEW for 2011
Crop Up: Examine plants and plant by-products humans and animals eat, wear and use in daily living.
No Horsing Around: Learn how the equine industry is used in urban setting
