FAQs

WHAT IS HIDEOUT'S PLAN FOR THE KINDERGARTEN "GENTLE BEGINNINGS"?

During the first 2 weeks of school, we will adjust your schedule to accommodate the "gentle beginnings" that Springhill is offering.

Regardless of whether your child is early or late slip, all kinders enrolled in our program will attend Hideout from 11:45 to 2:30 (MTThF) or 11:45 to 1:30 (Wed) on their regular scheduled days.  On MTThF, your child will be spending an extra hour with us, so we will charge a special rate of $5 per hour for each of those days. (Normal add-on rate is $10 per hour).  You will find this fee on your statement.

WHERE WILL MY KINDER EAT LUNCH?

The kinders will eat lunch in their classroom every day except Wednesdays.  We will eat between 11:50 and 12:10. You have the opportunity to sign your child up for the Hot Lunch program through Choice Lunch.  Please visit their website to learn more. http://www.choicelunch.com/. The school code is "Springhill".

ARE KINDERS KEPT SEPARATE FROM OLDER KIDS?

No. Kinders who attend before 8:15 or after 2:30 will be mixed with the older kids.

CAN MY CHILD WALK UP TO HIDEOUT ALONE IN THE MORNINGS?

No. ALL KIDS must be walked up to Hideout and signed in between 7 and 8:15. CHILDREN MAY NOT WALK UP ON THEIR OWN DURING THIS TIME.  It is a licensing regulation. At 8:15, we will sign them out to be released to school, and we will walk kinders directly to their class.

HOW WILL MY CHILD GET TO HIDEOUT AFTER SCHOOL?

All 1st through 5th graders walk themselves up to Hideout and we sign them in.  If your child does not arrive within 10 minutes of release from Springhill, we send a teacher out to look for him/her and begin calling parents.

We will walk kinders to class and pick them up from class.  Your kinder will never walk up to Hideout on his/her own.

We offer "curb-side-pick-up/drop-off" between 8:15 and 8:30 and at 2:30 MTThF & 1:30 on W. Parking will not be easy at either of these times, so:

1. at drop-off: you will drive through the circle (you must pull as far forward as possible - do not stop in front of us) and let your child out to walk back to us.  We will be standing by the yellow gate with a clipboard in hand to welcome the late slip kinders.  If you do not drop-off to us between 8:15 & 8:30 at the curb, you MUST walk up the hill to sign your child in.  Children may not come up on their own - even if you are running late.  It is a licensing regulation.

2. at pick-up: we will bring the kinders (who leave at 2:30/1:30-W) down the hill and wait behind the yellow gate for you to come up to pick up your child. Please do not be late!  We have 60 children arriving at 2:42 (1:42 on Wednesday) and it will put us out of ratio. All k's must be picked up by 2:40 (1:40 on Wednesday) or you will be charged the late fee of $1 per minute (charged from 2:30 until you pick up). Thanks for understanding that putting us over ratio can compromise the safety and quality of the program.

You may pick or drop off any time within your scheduled hours directly from Hideout.

WHAT IF I NEED ADDITIONAL CARE:

If you need additional care, please:
~ text or call - 925-282-0903 (Hideout cell)
to request care. We can not always guarantee space, so it is imperative that you contact Hideout ahead of time to secure the care. If we do not return your email within 24 hours, or, if you have a same day request, please CALL Hideout at 283-7808 or our Call/Text the Hideout Cell Phone 925-282-0903.

DO I NEED TO LET YOU KNOW THAT MY CHILD WILL BE ABSENT?

Yes - we ask that you contact us to let us know that your child will be absent so that we are not looking for him/her.  If you decide to pick up directly from class on your Hideout day, please just let the Hideout teacher know (with the clipboard) so that we can mark your child off.

For kids in the 1st through 5th who come directly from school, we MUST hear from a parent that the child will be absent. Please don't ask your child to tell us - we must speak to a parent, or receive an email/text from parent. Fees will be assessed, after two warnings, for those who fail to call as Hideout to report an absence as we must treat each absent child as missing, which means we need to send out staff to search for children, compromising the ratios of the program. You can find more information about fees on our fee sheet, under "Additional Fees": https://sites.google.com/site/kidshideoutcenter/fee-sheet

To report an absence:
~ email - absent@kidshideout.net
~ text or call - 925-282-0903 (Hideout cell)

WHAT WILL MY CHILD DO WHILE AT HIDEOUT?

Please visit our daily schedule on the website to see what we will be doing during your child's time at Hideout. https://sites.google.com/site/kidshideoutcenter/home/daily-schedule. We will have some free play, a teacher directed activity and outside play at different times through the day.

DOES HIDEOUT PROVIDE FOOD/SNACKS?

Breakfast is included in your monthly fees if attending the sunrise club.  The menu is posted on the refrigerator.

Snack is provided by Hideout at 2:45.  An additional light "fruit only snack" will be provided at 5:15.

WHAT HAPPENS IN THE AFTERNOON AT HIDEOUT?

There are between 5 and 6 teachers in the afternoons (2:30 - 6). We offer teacher directed activities in small groups from 3:30 - 4:30.  Kids will be in groups of 10 - 14, depending on the activity.  Kids will have 5 or 6 activities to choose from, though they may not always get their first choice activity as we limit the number of kids per teacher.

Yes.  However, we must have a form filled out by the parent. We only administer doctor-prescribed medicine, in original container with label intact. Permission to Administer Medication

IS HIDEOUT OPEN WHEN SPRINGHILL IS CLOSED?

Hideout is closed for all holidays and a couple other non-holiday dates, however, we are open during many Springhill closures. You have to sign up to attend these days (even if it is your regular day) so that we know how many to expect, and because space is limited on non-school days.  Parents are required to pay an additional fee for the extra time used (when kids are normally in class at Springhill).  Fees for these days will be listed on each sign-up form.  Please see Hideout Calendar for info on Hideout and Springhill Closures. https://sites.google.com/site/kidshideoutcenter/home/hideout-calendar

CAN MY CHILD BRING PERSONAL ITEMS TO USE AT HIDEOUT?

No. Springhill requests that kids do not bring personal items to school, so out of respect to the school, Hideout does not allow kids to bring personal items on SCHOOL DAYS either.  However, if your child attends Hideout on non-school days, you are allowed to bring personal items of a non-violent nature, including electronics - however, Hideout is not responsible for lost, stolen or broken items, so please choose carefully when sending items of sentimental value. "Electronic" time will be limited.

IS HIDEOUT NUT FREE?

Hideout does not serve nuts of any kind, however, we are not currently a nut free environment.  We do not separate those with allergies, but instead, we provide a "Nut Table" for those children that bring items containing nuts. We are very careful to have kids wash their hands before and after eating, and washing the faucets after kids who bring nuts wash their hands. If a child is enrolled with a serious allergy, Hideout may enforce a nut-free policy as well.

DOES HIDEOUT HAVE ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS:

This year, we will be offering an enrichment classes for kindergartners:

We provide the space for the class, but we do not collect any fees from the program. You can pay and register directly with the program itself, but we have a link to the information on our website. Please visit our website for information and flyers on this program: https://sites.google.com/site/kidshideoutcenter/

For those families looking for other enrichment programs, Springhill has a great Before and After School Enrichment Program.  Please visit the PFC (Parent Faculty Club) website for information:http://www.springhillpfc.org/home/enrichment-activities

WILL MY CHILD HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO DO HOMEWORK AT HIDEOUT?

Yes!!  We offer homework club from 2:50 - 3:20.  We will have a teacher who can help assist your child during this time.  Homework club is optional for the kids unless you let us know otherwise.  If you want your child to do homework, we will require him/her to stay in after snack.  Please let us know if you want him/her to stay in for the full 30 minutes, or until they finish "X" amount of pages.
