Vicky Bonavito (azvic@cox.net)
Arizona AHPERD President 2012

I have had such great positive comments on you and your presentations from board members and the general membership. Just let me tell you this – you are definitely loved in Arizona! What you did for our convention was phenomenal. What I learned as a State President is that there are keynote speakers and then there is Robyn Bretzing. Your Keynote Activity Session was a Keynote Speech on steroids! It was inspiring, informative and challenging. Then, to top it off you never stopped even though you were sick, you still gave us 110% of Bretzing genius. I also want to thank you for presenting at the Assessment Summit for which you were not contracted for; you really are a special person and so inspiring. You really do live your personal motto...“Every job is a self-portrait of the person who does it. Autograph your work with excellence.” Thank you for all you did to promote Physical Education in Arizona...Vicky

I had the privilege of viewing your session at this year's Iowa P.E. convention.  Your program is exactly what a Physical Education program should be.  I am blown away by your teaching and the program you have built. Please come back to the Iowa Convention, your knowledge is very beneficial to all who teach physical education!

Terressa Leinon

UW-Superior: Physical Education Major

My name is Terressa Leinon and I am a Physical Education major in my senior year at the University of Wisconsin Superior. I have attended MNAHPERD for the last 3 years. First off, I just want to say what an excellent job I think you did during your sessions and what you have done with your program. I only managed to catch one of your seminars last year, but this year I was able to make it to 4.  It was funny to me in your last session how you talked about the national conference and how the woman from Arizona was so inspirational to you, because that's what I had been saying to my peers about you. The enthusiasm you put into your teaching instruction and activities is SO INSPIRATIONAL, I really admire it! A lot of the games and activities you demonstrated were very creative and unique. I was happy to be able to be a part of your sessions again this year and think I would have loved to be a student of yours at your high school! The way my former teachers did things, is much different from the ways I have been taught to teach in college and from the ways you have modeled. Thank you again and keep up the excellent work!! I'm sure 2008 T.O.Y. was well deserved!

Robyn Bretzing is an amazing example of a true professional. In the arena of Physical Education she is a superstar teacher. As for professionalism and service to her profession she is truly one of the best presenters in the United States. Sharing her enthusiasm with her students and professionals alike each and every week is truly her calling. Few people find their place in this world, Robyn is lucky enough to have found her calling in life! The biggest compliment I can give her is I wish I were a student in her class, a player on one of her teams, or a co-teacher in her building! She is uplifting and inspirational!

The Future of Physical Education...

In the gymnasium, we should be concerned about developing healthy lifestyles with our students and educating then beyond graduation.  In High School, this means shifting from traditional physical education focused on sports and moving forward with fitness and lifetime activities.  My curriculum not only provides students with the skills necessary to participate in lifelong activities, but increases their self confidence as they improve individual fitness levels through class participation. We can no longer teach what comes easy - we must teach what is necessary to combat childhood obesity!

Here are a few pictures of the fitness and lifetime activities we teach at Timpanogos...Enjoy!

Have a great year and remember...
