COVID UPDATE - Most of these probably won't be valid this year but I am leaving the page up because you could still check (some of my links will be broken) or it might give you ideas for field trips if you are comfortable with attending museums, etc. 

This list is designed to help you plan but please check the organization's website for complete details as details are subject to change at any time (most of the time they don't and do try to keep an eye on things).  


Events that happen every month or several times a year

Atlanta History Center -  August, October, December  - Day of the week varies by month - 10:30 AM - 3:00 PM  General admission to Homeschool Days is $8.50 each for children and adults. Admission for members is $6.50 for children and free for adults.

Bartow History Museum  - Cartersville, GA -  Homeschool Programs include a living history demonstration, hands-on activities, and crafts related to the subject matter.  Homeschool families can make a reservation by calling 770-382-3818, ext. 6288. Admission: Students $6 – Parents $5*  (*ask about member rates!)

Blue Heron Nature Preserve - Atlanta, GA (Buckhead) -  2019 programs are full 

Booth Western Art Musuem - Cartersville, GA -  Homeschool Fridays -  Join a Booth Museum Educator in exploring a variety of mediums and techniques in these classes for home school students, ages 7-12. Students take home a completed art project at the end of each class. Classes meet the first Friday of the month, 1:00 pm – 2:30 pm.

Bounce U - Kennesaw, GA -  Tuesdays Homeschool Open Bounce - 10:30 AM - 12:30 PM. Check website event calendar. $8.99 plus tax per student. Parents free with paid admission. Don't forget your socks! 

Chattahoochee Nature Center - Roswell, GA -  
Second Tuesdays -  September - May  1:45-3:00pm - Join us for exciting science and nature programs planned just for homeschooling students. A perfect addition to your ecology, biology and geology curriculum, Home School Science Tuesdays are a great way to get hands-on science and nature lessons, receive help on projects and research and network with other homeschooling families. 

Escalade Rockwall Climbing in Kennesaw - Homeschool days on 3rd Thursday of the month from 12:00 - 2:00 PM   - Cost is $8 and includes guide service and equipment rental. Children 4 and under pay $6 for entry into the gym and use of the kids play area. Pizza offered at 1:00 p.m. for only $1.25 per slice! (Note: To save time, fill out the waiver online before you arrive)

HotWheels Skate Center - Woodstock, GA - First Friday of each month - 12 PM - 4 PM - $7 admission skate  rental included. - September 7th, October 5th, November 2nd, December 7th, January 11th, February 1st, March 1st, April 12th, May 3rd

Marietta Ice Center -  Homeschoolers Ice Skating Program - Wednesdays from 12:00 - 2:00 PM - $10 per skater includes skate rental

Museum of History and Holocaust Education at Kennesaw State University -  9 AM - 12 PM on select Wednesdays.  The Museum of History and Holocaust Education invites you to our free Homeschool Days. Experience special guest speakers, hands-on activities, docent-led tours, and age-appropriate films. Homeschool Days are suitable for 4th grade and up. FREE but advanced registration is required and spaces fill up fast. Register online. 

Oakland Cemetary - Young Historian  Homeschool Program - Each two-hour program includes games, fun activities, and tours designed to engage and educate.  - 10 AM - Noon - Cost - $8 for children of non-members; Adult tickets are free. Spaces are limited, and tickets must be purchased in advance.  
  • History Comes Alive  -  Thursday, September 13 – Cemetery Storytelling  AND  Thursday, October 4 – Spirits of Oakland - Recommended for ages 7-13. Students MUST attend the September 13 program in order to participate in the October 4 program.
  •  Friday, November 2 – Discovering Día de los Muertos   - 1:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. (Open)
  • Thursday, December 6 – Victorian Holiday Traditions (AT CAPACITY)  - 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Red Top Mountain State Park - Wed Sept 12th - 10 AM 

Want a fun learning experience about nature? Then come join us for crafts, nature walk, games, and more. This month we will be learning about the water cycle and water ecosystems. Recommended age is 5 and up. Call to register. Registration is available Mondays -Thursdays from 9 - 5 PM. Admission $7. Parking $5 

Robert C. Williams Museum of Papermaking - Atlanta, GA (Georgia Tech) - 
The EXPLORE! series consists of nine educational workshops dedicated to the art and science of paper. Perfect for homeschoolers or anyone looking to experience the diverse potential of paper. Fees (per session): $6 for museum members, $8 for non-members
Space is limited, so register early  Registration deadline is 1 week prior to each class. Payment is due at time of registration. Adult participation required.  Select Thursdays from 10:30 AM - 12 PM

Southern Museum  - Kennesaw, GA - 
Day & Time: Second Wednesday of every month, September - December and February - May
10:00am-1:00pm (drop in anytime!) Guided tours or demonstrations are every half hour. Admission: $5 for participants and accompanying adults. Recommended for Ages Kindergarten through 5th grade; Older and younger siblings are welcome to attend. 

Shakespeare Tavern - On select Fridays each month, homeschool families and small school groups (fifteen students or fewer) will be invited to the Shakespeare Tavern Playhouse to engage in the following activities:

  • Create alongside our professional teaching artists during an interactive workshop
  • Watch a special in-house performance of one of our touring productions
  • Participate in a Question & Answer session with our actors
  • Experience a guided backstage tour of our available theatre spaces.  
  • The cost for Shakesploration Days is $15/student and $10/adults.

SkyZone - Roswell and Kennesaw locations - Imagine a seemingly endless sea of trampolines, all connected to form one massive trampoline surface. Now, imagine that surface enclosed with angled trampolines that allow you to literally bounce off the walls! These patented, all-trampoline, walled playing courts are the foundation of Sky Zone Indoor Trampoline Park.

  • Roswell -Usually 1st Friday of the month from 2 PM - 4 PM.   Cost: $7 for 1 hour. $11 for 2 hours. Does not include Sky Socks. 

  • Kennesaw - HOME SCHOOL DAY (ANY AGE HOME SCHOOL) 1st Thursday of the month - 11:30-2:30. $9 for an hour. Socks not included. 

Smith Gilbert Gardens - Kennesaw, GA - The Citizen Science Homeschool Series for 2018-19 is open to students in grades K-5. Every month, students will learn about a different citizen science project, the issues surrounding the project and how they can get involved. In addition to learning about current issues in science, students will learn and practice observation, recording and communication skills.   Non Member pricing: Parent : $7, 1st student : $15, 2nd Student : $13, 5 and under free.

    Preregistration in advance of each program is required, so that we can ensure adequate staffing and program materials.

Sparkles Gwinett - Homeschool Skate - $5 admission includes Skate Rental and playground. Noon - 4 PM - Sept 14th, October 12th, November 16th, December 14th, January 18th, February 22nd, March 15th, April 12th, May 17th.   Pizza and pitcher combo for $10. Skate Mates are $5 each and Laser Tag is $2.00 

X-drenalineHOMESCHOOL TIME*:  1st Friday (except April, June-August) -  12p-4p (play ends at 4pm). $9 for one hour and $12 for two hours, $16 for all four hours of All Access. Valid waiver and X-drenaline trampoline socks are required.

Xtremehopp - Johns Creek, GA - Every Wed & Thurs 11am to 3pm – $7 / 1 hour jump or $11 / 2 hour jump. Does not include socks. School holidays excluded. Sign waivers online in advance – purchase tickets in person. Must provide homeschool group id / declaration of intent.  Bring in your home school family or plan to meet up with other homeschoolers! Check out our healthy cafe for a full outing experience.

Zoo Atlanta -  The first Tuesday of every month - no minimum group size required.  Groups under 10 participants can register at any admission window upon arrival for homeschool day.  Groups over 10 must use the registration link.  Groups with 10 or more can schedule a homeschool field trip on ANY day.   Cost is $9.95 per person.

Fernbank Museum -  Offers options for smaller groups (less than 10 students) and larger groups (10 or more students) with special discounts on students and/or adult ticket prices. 

Legoland Discovery Center - Atlanta, GA - Local Homeschools can reserve field trip visits to LEGOLAND Discovery Center Monday-Friday. School groups must have a minimum of 10 people in their party to qualify for special pricing ($7 per child, 1 FREE adult for every 5 children and $10 per additional adult). If you are a homeschool group with less than 10 people and are able to present your declaration of intent, please call us for more information on group visits. Reservations must be confirmed at least 14 days prior to event date. 

Booth Western Art Museum - Cartersville, GA -  FREE to the public on the 1st Thursday of the month from 4 PM -8 PM and for Bank of America customers, it is free the first Saturday and Sunday of the month. See website for details. See October for 1st homeschool day. 

Imagine It! Children's Museum -  
FREE on the second Tuesday of the month starting at 1:00 PM. The free tickets are issued on a first come first served basis as Museum capacity permits. 

Old McDermott's Farm - Carrollton, GA -  Grab your homeschool group and schedule a group tour!  - The Fall Harvest Tour is available September 26th through November 2nd. Tours can be scheduled for 9 to 10:30. 10:30 to 12, and 12 to 1:30. The picnic area and corn box will be available immediately following the tour for your group to use. You will have 30-40 minutes to use these areas before you depart.The admission for field trips is $7 per student. Parents, grandparents, and siblings are also $7 per person. Siblings age two and under are free. 

Southeastern Railway Museum - Duluth, GA -   See website for programs that are available as field trips at the museum, or as outreach programs at your school. They are available for public and private schools and preschools as well as for homeschool groups, moms groups, and scout groups. All programs include a hands-on experience with artifacts. Programs that are held at the museum generally* include a train ride and program-specific tour. Programs are $7 per student, Title 1 schools please call for pricing.
