BHS visits Franklin

"Franklin not only has been winning the turnover battle, but also the punt differential with punter Corey Fatony changing the field."

- Carol Stuart, Franklin Home Page, October 3, 2013

"I think the biggest thing that we're doing right now is winning the turnover battle, and we're winning field position with our kicking game," Webb said.  "Out kicker/punter, Corey Fatony, really changes the field every Friday night."

Fatony is averaging 42.1 yards per punt, and he has put the ball inside the opponents' 20 five times.  On kickoffs, 20 of 24 have been touchbacks for the junior.  He has a 47-yard field goal and a 69-yard punt.

- Chip Cirillo, The Tennessean, October 3, 2013

"After his field goal gave Franklin the winning edge last week at Dickson County, Corey Fatony gave his team another big lift.  With the Rebels' backs against the wall, Fatony boomed a 69-yard punt, leaving McGavock to start their drive at their own 14 yard line."

Franklin Home Page, September 6, 2013

"For the Rebels, a pair of drives in the third quarter stalled despite decent field position on both possessions.  Franklin was bailed out more than once with the placement and accuracy from Corey Fatony's leg.  The junior punter and kicker twice set up the Cougars inside the 1-yard line in the third period - one punt sailed more than 60 yards."

Webb said his kicker, who also converted a 47-yard field goal in the second quarter, may have been the "MVP" of the game for the Rebels.

"I can't say enough about our kicker," Webb said.  "Corey, he did a great job."

Corey Fatony was a finalist for the 2014 Titans Mr. Football Award Kicker of the Year.  He attended a luncheon and ceremony on Monday in Mufreesboro.  He invited Senior David White as a guest.  David was the long snapper for every kick that Corey has attempted in his career at Franklin High School.  This is a tremendous honor for Corey and Franklin High School.

Franklin now 2-0 after 16-14 squeaker at Dickson County

"The touchdowns sandwiched a 47-yard field goal by Corey Fatony that had room to spare.  It was the first of three kicks that played critical roles in the win

"He's really good and he's a great weapon for us", Webb said.  He's going to be kicking on Saturdays.  We're glad he's kicking for Franklin right now."

Fatony had a pair of punts in the second half that left Dickson County pinned as deep as possible.  The first, a booming 63-yarder, was spotted at the three inch line; the second at the half-yard line of the Cougars.

In typical kicker style, Fatony was low key about all three kicks after the game.

"The field goal was nerve wracking, but we executed.  On the punts, it was all my teammates," he explained, especially on the placed at the three inch-line.  "The kick went over the returner's head and Austin Winstead got there and stopped it.  It was a good ball."
