My name is Dr. Khawla Alnajjar. Currently, I am an associate Prof. in the Electrical and Engineering Department at the University of Sharjah.

I received my Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree from the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at the University of Canterbury, Christchurch, New Zealand, in Jun 2015. My supervisors were Prof. Peter Smith and Dr. Graeme Woodward. I have been working on a massive wireless communication MIMO receiver design.

I hold a BSc degree, in the same field, from the United Arab Emirates University in 2008. My supervisor was Dr. Mohammed Abdel Hafez. I worked on wireless sensor networks. In addition, I hold MSc and P.EE degrees at Columbia University, NYC in year 2011 and 2013, respectively. My supervisor was Prof. Xiaodong Wang. I worked on wireless communication, MIMO. I also worked on iterative learning and repetitive control with Prof. Richard W. Longman. In addition, I worked with Prof. Irving Kalet on signal processing.

I got an opportunity to be a visitor scholar at Macquarie University, Sydney, Australia in November 2014. My supervisor was Prof. Philip Whiting and I worked on array design for massive MIMO.  I engaged in research in Long Term Evolution (LTE) MIMO and single-input-single-output (SISO) precoder design during the summer of 2012 at WRC, UC with Dr. Graeme Woodward and Dr. Nicholas Pau. I also worked on precoding designs for the interference channel at AT&T Shannon lab in New Jersey, USA during 2011-2012 with Dr. Vaneet Aggarwal and Dr. Vinay Vaishampayan. I did industrial training in 2006 at Dassault Aviation, Paris. In addition, I worked during the summer of 2006 with the General Information Authority, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. I worked as academic assistant in 2008 and then teaching assistant 2009-2013 in UAEU. Moreover, I did industrial training at Total-Pau, France in summer 2010 and worked at Columbia University as a grader and lab assistant from 2010-2012.

My research interests include Wireless Communications, Information and Coding Theory, Mobile Networks, Computer Communication, Networks, Digital Control Systems, Control Theory, Power System’s Stability and Control, Advanced Digital Signal Processing, Stochastic Models in Information, Random Signals and Noise.
