About Me

 Santosh Khammamkar

Born in Chandrapur, Maharashtra, India,   I did my schooling, college and Masters in Hyderabad. I am an IT professional, and have a passion towards Kishore Kumar and Mohd. Rafi. I love singing legendary songs of Mohd. Rafi that have a classical touch. I also sing songs of other artists like Talat Mahmood, Yesudas and Mukesh. I take advantage of my South Indian origin to sing Telugu songs too, and yet keep the accents separate.

I am a big fan of S.Indian music director Dr. Ilayaraja, and love collecting his compositions.

My mother Megha, has been my guru and inspiration. I have been singing since I was 6 years of age and have participated in many singing contests in school and college, and pleased to say that I did a pretty decent job.

I am and have been giving stage programs all over the USA in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil.

I was given the "Listeners' Choice Award 2005" by a New Jersey radio station - 89.3 Dhoom FM, when they played songs, recorded by 6 finalists, on the air and the listeners voted for the singer they thought did the best. Also, one of the websites that is quickly becoming popular in encouraging new talents - http://www.podioindia.com played my songs in their 13th episode dated September 21st 2006 and 23rd episode dated December 7th, 2006.

I stood among the first 40 semi-finalists in SaReGaMaPa USA competition in 2008.
