My work is primarily in the area of the intellectual history and philosophy of education. My dissertation is an intellectual history of arguments for educational privatization in 20th century America. Other published works of mine focuses on the works of political theorists like John Dewey, Michael Oakeshott, and Jean-Jacques Rousseau and how their philosophies of education cohere with their larger political philosophies. Additionally, I am interested both in how normative ethical theories (like care ethics and virtue ethics) and political theories (particularly different varieties of liberalism) impact the way we do education.
