Field Trip: Caddo Career and Technology Center

Attention Sophomores: 
You are cordially invited to tour Caddo Career & Technology Center Friday afternoon, November 15, 2018.  
  • Tour more than twenty career and technical elective programs
  • Eleven (11) enriched credit courses
  • Dual enrollment and industry-based certifications
  • Courses offered two hours a day to juniors and seniors
This is a great opportunity to plan for courses to be taken the junior and senior year.  You may pick up a permission slip in the front office.   
Permission slips are due to Ms. Moore, in the Counselor's Complex, Friday, October 26.  

A College Tour of Louisiana

Looking for a fun and exciting way to spend Fall Break?  Join Ms. Simmons and Colonel Moffett on the JROTC Higher Education Staff Ride where you will get the chance to tour colleges throughout Louisiana.  During October 12th - 15th, we will tour Grambling State, Louisiana Tech University, Northwestern State University, Louisiana State University, Southern University and the University of Louisiana Lafayette!  For kicks, we will tailgate with NSU ROTC Department and attend the NSU Demons vs. Houston Baptist football game; we will visit USS KIDD Veteran's Memorial & Museum in Baton Rouge and top the evening off with dinner and shopping at Mall of Louisiana all for $150.  There are 15 seats available- first- come, first - served.  Take advantage of this great opportunity to talk with college reps in their own backyard!

National Leadership Academy

Are you interested in becoming a physician, scientist, or technologist (including biomedical scientist, software and hardware technologist, engineer, and mathematician)?  You may be interested in attending the Congress of Future Medical Leaders in Boston from June 23, 24, and 25, 2019, or the Congress of Future Science and Technology Leaders in Boston on June 29, 30, and July 1, 2019.  

 

Each Congress is an academic honors program.  Students from all grade levels with a 3.5 GPA or higher are eligible.  For more information, go to http://www.FutureDocs.com for the Congress of Future Medical Leaders and http://www.SciTechLeaders.com for the Congress of Future Science and Technology Leaders.  An academic scholarship based on financial need is available for one student.

2019 RYLA Program (Rotary Youth Leadership Award)

Sophomores, are you looking to improve your leadership skills?  If so, check out thRotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) program.  The 2019 Camper Application will be released in January.  In the meantime, go to www.ryla6190.com, to learn more about the camp and what it has to offer.  RYLA is seeking well-rounded rising Juniors who are recognized leaders with leadership qualities. The all-expense-paid camp will be held in Dubach, Louisiana near Ruston, June 23-29, 2019.  Check it out!

Community Service Diploma Endorsement

Attention Freshmen:

If you are interested in earning the Community Service Diploma Endorsement, don't forget to submit the Community Service Diploma Endorsement Agreement.  Forms were handed out at Back to School Night.  Additional forms can be found in the left sidebar of www.keshasimmons.com under the Community Service Diploma Endorsement link;  Or, you may visit the document holder in the Counselor's Complex. Having a clear understanding of what is expected will make the volunteer process so much more enjoyable.  Without delay, turn in your Community Service Diploma Endorsement Agreement and start volunteering right away! 

Let's Talk About Trauma

You are cordially invited to attend Let's Talk About Trauma presented by the Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse of Northwest Louisiana (CADA), Thursday, September 20th,  at 5:30 PM, at the Robinson Film Center.  This event will feature a panel of experts that will lead a discussion and answer questions about trauma and its effect on development and behavior in children and adults.

Pre Scholastic Aptitude Test (PSAT)

Mrs. Britt and Ms. Moore are now taking fees for the PSAT.  Please send checks payable to Caddo Magnet High School.  Students may register for the test during lunch, outside of the cafeteria.  See below for testing date and fees.

Registration – September 4-12, 2018
