About Ms. Simmons

Kesha M. Simmons is a professional school counselor at Caddo Magnet High School with responsibility for helping 9th and 10th grade students develop academically, socially, and professionally. 

Ms. Simmons  has worked as a substitute teacher and volunteer school counselor previously at Magnet High. She is the proud mother of former Magnet student Chasity Matthews. Prior to joining Magnet, she spent twelve years in the private sector working in accounting, finance and HR management. She comes to Magnet from Nashville, TN where she managed Training and Education for Sodexo Services at St. Thomas Health Systems.  In her spare time, she enjoys reading, exploring new places, and giving back to her community. She is a trained Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) who advocates for the best interest of abused and neglected children. Notable is Ms. Simmons' commitment to empower others and unwavering devotion to parenting.

Ms. Simmons earned a certification in school counseling from Louisiana State University Shreveport. She has a Master of Education in Educational Management and Bachelor of Business Administration in Human Resources Management. She is a member of several professional and civic organizations including Louisiana School Counseling Association.
School Counseling Beliefs and Philosophy

Ms. Simmons believes that every student must have the opportunity to achieve academic success, regardless of ethnicity, gender, religious or philosophy views, socioeconomic status, special needs or family structure. She also believes that a comprehensive school counseling program should focus  on the knowledge, skills and attitudes needed for successful academic achievement, career development, and personal/social growth. Ms. Simmons is committed to participating in professional development to maintain a quality school counseling program.
