Boating Under the Influence: The Alex Otte story

This show is available to air any time between 5/22 -  5/29/17
A touching story in honor of National Safe Boating Week

At age 13, there was no guarantee that Alex Otte would see age 14.  While on her personal watercraft on Lake Herrington, she was blindsided by a reckless bass boat captained by a man whose blood alcohol level was nearly twice the legal limit.  After severe brain injuries, broken neck, coma and the loss of her leg, Alex, now 20, talks to Charlie Baglan about her two missions in life.  To graduate college and to stop drunken boating.  You've heard her voice on safety messages, now meet the human being and the boating officer working the crash.
