Rules

  • Each team needs to check in at least 1 hour prior to start of their first game. You will need USA sanction #, background check, concussion form, roster, and insurance at check in. If you would like to submit scanned copies prior to the tournament, please send them to mwketcham@gmail.com. If you send scans prior to the tournament, you need to check in to let me know you have arrived. The registration table will be next to the concession stand.

  • 4 game guarantee - 3 pool play games into single Elimination. If weather does not allow us to play Saturday, bracket play will start immediately on Sunday morning (weather permitting). If this is the case, we will draw for seeding. In case of bad weather, please be flexible as schedule could change.

  • You also need to be at the field and ready to start at least 20 min prior to the start time for each game.

  • All games will use an 80-minute time limit, finish the inning. There will be no time limit for the championship games. The timer will be started at the conclusion of the pregame meeting and a new inning will be considered started once the third out of the previous inning is made. Pool play can end in a tie and we will use international tie breaker if needed for elimination games.

  • Game times and length could be adjusted if bad weather should interrupt the tournament.

  • Bracket games will be 100 minutes or 7 innings whichever occurs first.

  • In the event of a tie in bracket games, international tie breaker will take place.

  • Championship game(s) will be 7 innings; no time limit.

  • You can bat entire roster in pool play. In bracket play, USA rules apply and you can only bat 9 players.

  • USA Rules. Pitching distance 14U/16U/18U - 43 Feet; 12U - 40 feet; 10U - 35 feet.

  • Pitchers will get 5 pitches at the start of game to warm up and 1 between innings. New pitchers will get 5 pitches to warm up. No warm up balls in the field after first inning.

  • Run rule - 15 after 3 innings; 12 after 4 innings, 8 after 5 innings.

  • Home team will be determined by coin flip in pool play. Coin flip could take place up to 15 min prior to start of game. If you are not present, the opposing team automatically wins the flip. In BRACKET PLAY, the HIGH SEED has the choice of being home or away.

  • Tie Breakers for seeding of brackets shall be as follows:

      1. Head to head

      2. Runs allowed

      3. Run scored

      4. Coin flip

  • Each team will have slips to record scores after each game and must be turned in at the registration table. If scores are not turned in, it may count as a loss for your team.

  • Trophies will be awarded to 1st place; medals will be awarded to 2nd place.

  • Please be respectful to the umpires, other coaches and players. No hostility will be tolerated from anyone, including parents. Everyone will do their best to make the right call. Umpires will be in control of their field; please do not disrespect them. You will get further with kindness than you will negativity.

  • No dogs or other pets are permitted at our park.

Additional Tournament Information

  • The Kenton Kaos Softball Tournament will follow all guidelines put in place by Governor Mike Dewine. Please be mindful of the rules and do your best to adhere to them.

  • Hotel Information

      • Country Hearth - Hotel is about 5 min from restaurants and Park. Indoor pool, continental breakfast. Address - 902 East Columbus St, Kenton, OH 43326. Phone - 419-674-1400

  • There will be a shuttle (golf cart) for those who may need it (Elderly or handicap).

  • Restaurants:

      • Salsas: Nice Mexican Restaurant east on St Rt 67 next to Wal-Mart.

      • Ralphies: North of town on St Rt 68.

      • Michael Angelos: Pizza place on Detroit St., south of the square.

      • Skinny's Tavern: 801 Steiner Ave, Kenton, OH 43326

      • Fast food restaurants are just east of town on St Rt 67.

      • Dairy queen: West on St Rt 309.

  • Gate Fee: $5 per car per day; $10 per car for weekend pass. Head coach and Assistant coach park for free. Let the people working the gate know what team you are with and they will mark you off the list. Umpires park for free.

  • Please be respectful of other guests. Keep safe distancing where possible and use hand sanitizer.

  • There will be a nice selection of food available at concession stand.

  • Tournament shirts will be available.

  • Make sure you bring some shade pop ups, etc.

  • There is a shelter house in the back for picnics, etc. Please spread out and limit congregating.

  • Please remember this tournament has $100 NONREFUNDABLE deposit.

  • Weather Refund: 0 games $225, 1 game $150, 2 Games $75, 3 or more NO REFUND

  • If we have enough volunteers, there will also be a 50/50 Drawing: 1 ticket for $1 or 6 tickets for $5. Please let parents know this really helps us keep the cost of tournament down. Please participate. Thanks.
