Weaving

The Weaving Group
The Guild has a very active Weaver’s Group with a wide range of skill levels and a common passion for exploring a wide variety of weaving techniques.  The Weavers Group meets during the morning of the Guild Meetings on the first Saturday of each month.  A small group of tapestry weavers also enjoy comparing notes during Guild meetings.

Shared Projects

Collaboration is the key to many projects run by the Weavers’ Group.  In 2012 the Group created colourful display of  cushions which were exhibited at the National Needlework Archive.  For the Association of Guilds’ National Exhibition, a fully woven, multi-panel picture was created, inspired by the paintings of David Hockney

Challenges

During each year, the Weavers’ Group share a challenge to increase knowledge.  Recent challenges have included rep weaving, blackjack, painted warps and woven shibori
