Early Voting

  • Every registered voter in Illinois has the right to cast a vote in all elections. However, situations arise that make voting during traditional voting hours impossible for some voters such as military service members or shift workers. In Illinois, any registered voter may exercise their right to cast a vote early during primary and general elections, provided that all other requirements for voting are met.
  • Before an Illinois voter can vote early, he must be a registered voter in the district where the vote will be cast. Each voter's registration status is verified by poll workers before he is allowed to vote. To register to vote in Illinois, voters must have citizenship in the United States and be at least 18 years of age by the date of the election. All voters must reside in the district where the vote will be cast for at least 30 days before Election Day.
