  • The Club is closed until the Autumn In veiw of the advice from the Prime Minister for everyone to avoid non-essential social contact, the decision has been taken to close the Chess Club for the rest of the current season.  Hopefully we will be able to open again as usual in September.

  • Blame the Captain! Lancaster beat Kendal 2.5 - 1.5 last night.  It was probable that our top two boards would struggle against two very strong players.  Dave Shaw did his best to counteract this on board three with another good attacking win but Jonathan could only draw against his much lower rated opponent leaving Lancaster the winners.

  • Match drawn Kendal got off to a good start against Barrow B with early wins for Martyn and Dave but sadly finished poorly with losses on the bottom two boards resulting in a drawn match

  • A Fighting Loss! Kendal were always likely to lose the Lansil Cup Semifinal against Morecambe and even more so with a default loss on one board (hope the children have stopped being sick this morning Jon).  Despite this a tough match ensued with Jonathan managing a draw against 168 graded Dick Collins and Dave getting a draw against Glen House who is graded 219!
