A Little About Me

Right now I'm currently working at the Sidney Daily News in Sidney, Ohio as a general assignment reporter. I've done numerous features, covered a country concert festival, a county fair, wrote about business issues, and compiled police and fire department reports. I am also freelancing for Dayton B2B, the Dayton Daily News' monthly business magazine.

I moved to Dayton, Ohio in June 2007 upon graduating from Central Michigan University with a Bachelor's Degree in Journalism. Upon graduation, I had accepted a job at the Dayton Business Journal as the banking and finance reporter.

I worked at the Dayton Business Journal for a year covering banking and finance, public companies, telecommunications, utilities and media and advertising. I was able to delve into various aspects of business and honed a lot of my reporting skills while at DBJ. I learned how to scour SEC filings and follow stock charts to write in depth stories. I also put together a foreclosure package in September 2007 which won a First Place Cleveland Press Club Association Award in 2008.

Prior to graduation, I interned at Crain's Detroit Business and worked at Central Michigan Life, CMU's student newspaper covering sports for two and a half years and news for the other two and a half. I received a Michigan Press Association Honorable Mention Award for a story I broke on an apartment complex suing a dead girl's family for rent.

Outside of writing I love reading, my favorite author is Nicholas Sparks and I frequently read The Detroit Free Press, New York Times and The USA Today. I also love to play and watch sports, with my favorites being football, baseball and tennis. I love being creative and would like to get back into doing some designing, as I was Design Editor of my high school newspaper.
