I am an Assistant Professor in the English Department at Framingham State University, where I direct the Secondary Education program for students seeking Massachusetts state licensure to teach middle and high school English.

My current scholarly research examines twentieth-century Irish literature, with a particular focus on the 1940s and 1950s.

My first book, The Bell Magazine and the Representation of Irish Identity, was published in 2012 by Four Courts Press (Dublin, Ireland).  It was called a "luminous and richly entertaining study" by Declan Kiberd in a front-page review for the Times Literary Supplement, and "a fascinating examination of 1940s Ireland" by Dermot Bolger in the Irish Sunday Independent.

I recently co-edited and wrote the Introduction for an essay collection, The Country of the Young: Interpretations of Youth and Childhood in Irish Culture, published by Four Courts Press in 2013.

I have compiled an interactive online index of all of the articles, poems, short stories, and reviews published in The Bell during its print run (1940 to 1954), which is now available on Digital Commons

Feel free to email me for further information about this project.
