hi, i'm kelly

I received my Ph.D. in philosophy in the spring of 2015 from the University of Colorado, Boulder, where I also earned my M.A. in philosophy in 2012. I have a B.A. in philosophy and English writing from Whitworth University. My area of specialization is philosophy of language, and my areas of interest include metaphysics, philosophy of religion, philosophy of mind, and ethics.

My dissertation is in philosophy of language. In it, I present and defend a new account of indicative conditionals. I argue that indicative conditionals have truth values that are not merely a function of the truth values of their component parts. Rather, their truth values depend on the existence of a certain kind of relation in the actual world.

In addition to teaching and doing philosophy, I enjoy poetry, painting, and the beauty of the Pacific Northwest. (And, in case you're wondering, my last name is pronounced "WHY-rick.")
