Talents are in the eye of the beholder. So is beauty. Whether the canvas is an art board or a human being,
I love rendering personal beauty and image.
I’ve been told my portraits capture essence, and that I don’t apply makeup I render a face.
I strive to capture that as well as the hidden biographical nuances by looking intuitively.
I choose my image then start the development of the character inside the photo. Whether taken yesterday or centuries ago, the photo becomes the opening for the presence that eventually surfaces.
I love subtle inflexions of tone and texture. I work in oil, watercolor, and other media, but colored pencils are my passion.
