Social Development
Purpose
Because human resources are its most valuable assets, it is important that the community have facilities and services which will provide for the well being and development of all people, with special concern for those with unusual needs. Since the Ruritan club serves the entire community, it is in the unique position to take the initiative in making these facilities and services available through club projects and cooperative programs with other organizations and agencies.

2017 Goals and Objectives
1. Support the Food Bank program - monetary donation and food.
2. Support and promote Cal Ripkin and Babe Ruth baseball in the community.
3. Sponsor Spouses Night in November.
4. Provide scholarships for local high school seniors
5. Sponsor Educator’s Night at March Club meeting.
6. Sponsor Minister's Night at October Club meeting.
7. Support Ruritan National Foundation “Build Your Dollar Grant (Keezletown Ruritan Memorial Scholarship).
8. Provide pages in the handbook to encourage respect for the flag, voting, church attendance, and memorial for deceased members.
9. Provide meeting facilities for 4-H Members, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts
10. Sponsor an ad in the District 9 convention program booklet.
11. Support/Provide Volunteer Hours for Shenandoah Valley Runners Club 10 Mile Run
12. Provide Food/Provide Volunteer Hours for Salvation Army/Blessed Sacrament/First Church of Nazarene/Goodwill/Massanutten Food Pantry
13. Support Hunters for the Hungry.
14. Encourage and support Members to participate in Community civic and religious organizations, including administering communion and
sacraments to elderly and shut-ins.
15. Support the Local Fellowship of Christian Athletes Program.
16. Support American Cancer Society Relay for Life.
17. Support Redeemer Classical School for purchase of school/scholarships.
18. Support Susan Komen Benefit (Assist with Chicken Barbecue)
19. Support District 9 Sponsorship of Spelling Bee.
20. Support Needy Family in the Community
21. Sponsor Self-Feed Night
22. Sponsor night to recognize all “Volunteers”.
23. Sponsor Keezletown Baseball Championship or Travel Team
24. Sponsor Challenger Baseball Project.
25. Sponsor Ruri-Teen to National Convention
26. Support Big Brothers & Big Sisters
