KCGD Protospiel 2020





What is a Protospiel event?

An all-day event where tabletop board game designers bring their games to get playtested by players and other designers. Big room, tables, chairs, designers, players, prototypes, and feedback. Simple concept and a great time for anyone interested in game design.

How does it work?
  1. Register for KantCon 2020 (KantCon Registration)
  2. Bring your prototype game
  3. Find a table with an open seat
  4. Play your game and get feedback
  5. Play other people's games and give feedback
  6. Sit around and talk about game design

Who is this event for?

  • Amateur and professional game designers looking for feedback
  • People who want to make a game
  • Anyone who enjoys playing new games and offering honest feedback

Who is this event not for?

  • Creators with completed games looking to offer demos of a finished product.
  • Creators looking to sell completed games on the spot

Who is running this thing?

The Kansas City Game Designers are a group of KC area people who enjoy designing games, playtesting games, and talking game design. We already meet twice a month to host playtest sessions, but we wanted to do something bigger. KantCon has graciously given us space within their fantastic convention to host our own Protospiel event. Any KantCon attendee can attend the Protospiel as part of their admission.

When is it?

Protospiel is Saturday, July 18th from 8AM to 11PM.
KantCon as a whole is from July 17th to July 19th. 

What's it cost?

Admission into Protospiel is included in your KantCon registration for Saturday. 
KantCon registration prices are as follows:
Saturday only: $17 Early Bird, $20 Pre-Reg, $23 at the door
Fri, Sat, and Sunday: $35 Early Bird, $40 Pre-Reg, $45 at the door
