Venture Crew 73
Venturing Crew 73 is a co-ed group of young people ages 14 through 20 years of age who are interested in learning about amateur radio as a communications tool and participating in fun activities which include camping, high adventure, disaster preparedness and community service.
We have been apart of Jamboree on the Air, and have gone to the Dayton Ham Fest (the BIGGEST Amateur Radio fest in the world!). We have our own radio station set up at Camp Olmstead for doing contests, making contacts and having FUN!! We even made it to ARRL’s 2013 10 Meter Contest results database.
One of our units specialties is providing emergency and support communications for local community events. Currently we provide communications to the Jim Lobdell Memorial Dog Sled Race, Trout Unlimited Allegheny River Dice Run, Warren Kinzua Tango and the Oil Creek 100 Marathon.
We have also built and maintain the communications system for Camp Olmsted our local scout camp.
