Did you know that many marine animals make their own shells?

The use calcium from the seawater to make their shells, just like we use calcium from milk for strong bones.

In May 2019, Dr. Lotterhos visited the preschool class at Nahant to share a shell matching activity that she designed based on shells found in Nahant beaches. This activity can be played anywhere (just cut out the cards and match them), but can also be played by matching real shells found on New England beaches with the picture cards!
