-- Katherine Haenschen --

Hi! Thanks for visiting my website.

I'm an academic researcher who studies the intersection of digital media and political participation using quantitative methods, including field experiments and surveys. I have demonstrated the ability of Facebook status updates and email messages to increase voter turnout, and have explored the impact of exposure to political disagreement within Facebook networks on participation. To carry out my research I have developed new methodologies to conduct research within Facebook networks.

Currently, I am an Assistant Professor in the Departments of Communication Studies and Political Science at Northeastern University. I spent the 2016-2017 academic year as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Princeton University's Center for Information Technology Policy, and a Visiting Scholar at the Annette Strauss Institute for Civic Life. I earned my PhD from the Moody College of Communication at the University of Texas at Austin in 2016.

When I am not doing research, I'm probably traveling, cooking, training for a triathlon, or Tweeting as @KathTX
