Dear Artsy Friends,
Happy Thanksgiving!  This time of year is particularly meaningful to me as 3 years ago, our family launched a new life in Bellingham, Washington.  I am so incredibly grateful for all the people who have welcomed us to this beautiful city, and all of you who have embraced Kate Studio as a new place to create and have fun.  I give THANKS for all of you who share in my love of art and join me in sharing it with our friends and family.
Thank you again, and have a wonderful holiday!

Fairhaven 4th Friday Art Walk

For those of you who live in the Bellingham area, historic Fairhaven has a 4th Friday Art Walk. It's a once-a-month event in the evening, where venues feature different artists, many demonstrating their craft, and having their newest works out on display. Edgemoor Chuckanut Living Magazine did a story on the event, and my artist friends and I who help to organize it had a fun photoshoot to go with the story.  If you are in the area, please make plans to spend the evening for the 4th Friday Artwalk!
Children's Art Classes
My children's classes offer a variety of art lessons that are appropriate for a wide range of ages and abilities. This includes learning about the Masters, sculpture, self portraits, different artist styles, color, line etc.  My studio is small and intimate; it's a space where the kids feel safe to express themselves without judgement and my teaching style offers lots of love and encouragement.

Please call Kath at 408-410-8547 to talk about how Kate Studio can nurture your child!

To order:
In honor of Thanksgiving, I am passing on the recipe of my absolutely favorite dish that my mom makes every year.  From our family to yours, Happy Thanksgiving!

Potatoes Romanoff
 1hr 15mins

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Wash and quarter the potatoes. Place in a saucepan, cover with boiling water, and cook until tender. Drain and shred coarsley with a grater.
  3. In a bowl, combine shredded potatoes with sour cream, scallions, 2/3 cup sharp Cheddar cheese, salt, and pepper. Mix well and transfer to a shallow baking dish or pie plate (9-10 inches).
  4. Sprinkle remaining cheese over top. Dust with paprika.
  5. Bake, uncovered, at 350 degrees for about 40 minutes, or until golden.
  6. (If you would like to make this ahead of time, just add 10 minutes or so to the baking time if the unbaked potatoes are chilled.).
