Karoo Wingshooting is owned and operated by Timothy van Heerden.

“I was introduced to bird shooting by one of my close friends, Beyers Cronje.  Beyers and I met while doing our Professional Hunter programs together way back in 1998.  At the time Beyers ran two English pointers - Rap and Patrys. He invited me on a most informal Greywing shoot in the Sneeuberg Mountains that same winter.  Since that day I was hooked.  From Greywing I went on to Guineafowl, Waterfowl and Pigeon shooting.  And the rest, as they say in the classics, is history.”

Timothy (or Tim to his friends) is well known in international hunting circles of the Eastern Cape province of South Africa.  He is part of the Eastern Cape International Hunters Forum and has established close links with the conservation departments on provincial and regional levels.  He is also the driving force behind the Eastern Cape Wingshooters Forum.  He is renowned for his diplomacy, perseverance and attention to detail.

Apart from surveying shooting concessions himself, he contracts expert coordinators at various shooting concessions throughout South Africa. These experts do year round surveys in the areas where shooting takes place.  This ensure that clients hunt at the best venues possible, ensuring a memorable shoot.

Apart from with his first love Roana, whom he married in  2012,  he spends his time working, marketing, hunting, dog training, clay shooting, fishing and enjoying his favourite brand of whiskey at the local gentleman's club.
