Counselling

If you are new to a counselling experience, it can be an uncertain and challenging process. A calm and safe space is provided for you to explore your thoughts and feelings empathetically and without judgement in a safe and confidential setting. Learning to be compassionate with you is a starting point to healing and building your future needs and aspirations.

I incorporate Person Centred, Solution Focused, Mindfulness and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) approaches into my practise and obtained my counselling qualification in 2002. I work with adults, children and young people with a range of issues including Self-esteem, loss/bereavement, self- harm, relationship issues, depression, anxiety/stress, neglect, childhood issues, trauma, abuse, self-esteem and social anxiety.

I specialise working with children and young people and also deliver training on issues pertaining to grief and loss. Creative groups are also offered as an alternative intervention. Examples of this would be relaxation, visualisation and Mindfulness.

Sessions are face to face on a time limited or longer term basis and usually attended weekly. Our initial meeting provides a reduced fee consultation to discuss your requirements and if I am able to provide the appropriate support for your needs. If an agreement is made between us to commence counselling, in our first session together we will agree how sessions will operate, e.g. fees, frequency of sessions, confidentiality and any other concerns or queries in order for us to form a therapeutic alliance. The sessions are client led to facilitate your needs. All information shared in the process of therapy will be treated confidentially. No personal information will be shared with anyone else without the clients permission unless particular and/or exceptional legal situations arise. Further information on my privacy policy will be given at commencement  of sessions.
