Here are a few of our outreach projects

Angel Gowns

Finished Angel Gowns
Several times a year we meet to stitch angel gowns. These are gowns that are given to families who have lost a baby at birth (or is stillborn). In addition we embellish preemie gowns that are used for the tiny ones in neonatal intensive care.

Miniature Patient Gowns

A new project to benefit pediatric patients at Bronson Methodist Hospital was suggested by their Volunteer Office. Curerntly there is a need for Patient Buddy Gowns, miniature patient gowns, which are given to pediatric patients for their own doll or stuffed animal.  Pat will collect any completed items at EGA meetings.

Kits for Hospitality House of Southwest Michigan

Hospitality House gives comfort, care, and lodging for those in need of a home-like environment while in Kalamazoo for medical care. We donate a range of needlework kits for visitors to stitch and take with them, hoping this activity provides some comfort and stress relief during their stay.

WMU Seita Scholars Sewing Kits - 2014

Did you know only 2 to 4 percent of youth from foster care systems will earn a college degree? At Western Michigan University, the Seita Scholars program is making a difference. Because these talented young people have few personal belongings, the Kalamazoo community provides additional support by contributing things we take for granted like blankets and soap! The Kalamazoo chapter donated 40 sewing kits, complete with scissors, tape measures, needles and a WMU pincushion.

Kissing Pillows

KIssing pillow image
The Kissing Pillow Project is an ongoing project by the Evergreen Chapter EGA that provides hand-stitched pillows that are distributed to soldiers and their families upon deployment. The soldier and family each have their own pillows as reminders of home and their loved ones. You don't need to be a member of EGA to stitch one. A kit to download and more information can be found at Nordic Needle:
