ADDING ON WITH ADD-ONS

You’ve heard about the newer “Add-ons” feature in Google Drive, right?  Not really?  Well come explore what Add-ons are and how you can work them into your workflows within Google Drive.  We will explore and show how to use some of the popular Add-ons as an educator to increase efficiency in your workflow.   **For the purposes of this session, you will be best suited to have a laptop or Chromebook.

SUPER QUIZ (link to Add On)

  • PURPOSE: By completing the quiz once with an answer key, all future submissions are automatically graded correct or incorrect. What’s more - you can get a break down of class understanding and a list of incorrect students for each question - perfect for intervention!

  • DEMO: Complete this short quiz for Super Quiz Demo
    • Note: First 3 questions in Form need to be Email?, Name?, and Teacher/Class? in that order for this to work correctly. 
    • Workflow: Create Form. Complete Form as MASTER KEY in row 2. Run ADD ON. Click Create Tabs. Go further where needed.

  • PURPOSE:  "A Digital Copy Machine." Takes a template of yours and makes a copy and shares it per individual from a roster in a spreadsheet

AUTOCRAT (link to Add On)
  • PURPOSE: "Flexible, easy to use document merge tool that creates PDF or Shared Documents from spreadsheet data. autoCrat: So you don't have to be the bureaucrat! Automates the creation and sharing of personalized (e.g. merged) Google Docs or PDF email attachments from columns of data in a Google Sheet."

g(MATH) FOR SHEETS (link to Add On)
  • PURPOSE: Create graphs (including plotting points) and write complex math directly in your Google Sheet. You can use these to create a Form!
  • Tutorial by John McGowan (creator)
  • DEMO/WORKFLOW:
    • 1. Create a Spreadsheet and add g(Math) for Sheets
    • 2. Create math expressions or graph in first column only
    • 3. Create Form after that and math expressions/visuals pre-populate to the Form! Edit the form for your needs and then distribute to students! :)

  • PURPOSE: Create your mail template as a draft in Gmail and merge it with your Sheet data

  • PURPOSE: Quickly create and insert flowchart, UML, wireframe, mind map, and more diagrams directly into a Google document.

  • PURPOSE: Create graphs (including plotting points) and write complex math directly in your Google Doc!

    • 1. Start a Doc and add the g(Math) for Docs add on
    • 2. Choose to add an EXPRESSION or GRAPH and
    • Note: You have to use * for multiplying. (ex: 2x should be 2*x)

  • PURPOSE: Easily merge Google spreadsheet data into Avery address labels and name badges
