FELT SCULPTURE – Elemental Forms – Two Day Intensive
Instructor: Susan Mills

Susan will not be returning to teach next year so take advantage of this final offering! Using her infectious enthusiasm Susan will guide you through the basic process of wet felting the 3-D forms. Utilizing hand made felt and mixed media materials like sticks, foliage, feathers, shells, metal, screening and bones, we will create a three dimensional, personal totemic sculpture. We begin by making a felted wool armature and the components will be added to this form.  On the first day, students will create their felt forms learning how to include and form appendages as an integral part of them. Susan will also share her secret to forms maintaining their integrity and maintaining shapes for free standing. On the second day, these pieces will be assembled; masks, or other mixed media materials, will be fabricated and applied to personalize and give pieces their unique personalities creating a truly magical Elemental form.
This class is open to all levels but experienced felters will be able to go further with their creations.

NOTE: Students interested in artful, dimensional, free form expression in their work are encouraged to participate in this class.

ARTFELT CLUTCHES & SCARVES
Instructor: Ellen Kalman

Ellen and KAF brings you the newest form of felting! In this class students will learn to create incredible colorful designs fashioned into clutches and scarves using the Artfelt © method of felting. “Artfelt © is a combination of needle felting, wet felting and fulling. It requires far less time and talent than any of the three!  This method creates felted pieces that either are as thin as paper or thick enough for a handbag, all while allowing for precision detailing of design. Any felted piece the imagination can conceive, Artfelt© can achieve!” Students will receive an instructional DVD as part of their class kits.

TRANSPARENCY WEAVING - LIGHT WORK
Instructor: Mike Patterson

If you have never seen transparency weaving, you have missed out! This form of tapestry weaving uses back lighting to enhance its’ beauty. Designs are transparent letting light come through adding to the richness of texture. This weaving method is often used to create art that hangs as window treatment designs or to create artful room dividers. Using a 15 end pi spring loom students will weave a fine tapestry you can see through. This class will allow 1 hour of design time where students will be encouraged to create their own design to create the “cartoon” necessary for the weaving process. Students can bring in images for inspiration though there will be books and images available to help the process.
