About the Author

Kae Harper Childs grew up in Spartanburg, Greenville and Columbia, South Carolina.

She received a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of South Carolina, a M.Ed. with a major in Guidance and Counseling

from Clemson University, and she retired as a counselor for

Charleston County Schools. She has taught exercise, line dancing

and Shag dancing in Greenwood, Hilton Head, Columbia,

Greenville and Charleston.

She is presently teaching for the Town of Mount Pleasant,

The University of South Carolina in Columbia and First Baptist

Church in Greenville.

Although she has always enjoyed writing poetry for special

occasions for friends and family, her writing career began with

a writer’s course at Furman University where she was teaching

Shag classes. She gives her writer’s guild the major credit for her

growth in writing and for encouraging her to pursue this book.

She hopes in the future to write several more books including one about her granddaughters and possibly one about her battle

with cancer.

She was married to her childhood sweetheart, Don Childs,

for thirty one years before he passed away in 1954. Her days

are full and she’s happiest when she’s busy shagging, teaching,

or spending time with her family and friends. She’s an active

member of Seacoast Church in Mt. Pleasant and a Watchcare

member of First Baptist Church, Greenville. She is a speaker for

Stonecroft Ministries, a worldwide Christian organization.

She has lived in Wild Dunes, outside of Charleston, for

thirty five years and also owns a condo in Greenville.
