2016 Season Schedule   -  2017 Schedule to be published in May

The Osseo, Maple Grove, and Champlin mountain bike teams teams are open to any young person (grades 7-12) who live within or near the respective high school district boundaries.  Riders compete in 5 cross-country style races across the state against 1200+ high school riders from 65+ high school teams.  The teams are organized under the Minnesota High School Mountain Bike League, which is, in turn, governed by the National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA).  Each organization provides guidelines, rules, insurance, and benefits for every team in the high school league.

Practices are held every Tuesday and Thursday night at 4:00 to 6:00 at Elm Creek Park Reserve.  In addition, we travel to a different trail system every Saturday for practice at 9:00 am.  The expectation is for riders to be ready precisely at the start of practice so we can ride on time.  Races are held on Sundays and for each race, there is a pre-ride on Saturday to allow riders to familiarize themselves with the course.  For practice, I will arrive at 3:45 pm to assist with any equipment and/or safety issues.  We will still hold practice if the weather or trails are wet, but we will be on pavement.  Dress for the weather.

For each practice, it is required you have a bike with multiple gears and functional brakes, a helmet, water, and it would be good to have a snack.  If you are new member or have not yet fully registered, you must complete a parent-signed NICA participation waiver in order to ride.  You may ride with the team once with only the waiver but must fully register with the team to be allowed on any additional rides.

Once you register with the team, watch for an invitation to to complete registration and health information.  PitZone is an online app that handles all the rider registration.  The cost of the racing season for 2016 is $450, which includes a personalized jersey and registration for 5 races.  Additional benefits include discounts on equipment through our NICA sponsors and free racing during the summer at select Minnesota series events.  If you are unsure whether you want to race, you can pay only the team fees, which amount to $250 and you can deduct a further $85 if you already have a jersey.  NICA has some scholarships available to assist with team fees.  Checks can be made payable to OMG Cycling.

2017 Try It Out Sessions:  To be scheduled in April.  They will include dates throughout the summer.
Curious about riding with the team but don't have a bike or have never ridden before?  Come to a "Try It Out" session.  Bikes will be provided with a parent signed waiver and coaches will be on hand to teach basic bike handling skills.
