Short Biography
Junsoo Lee is a Professor of Economics and the William White McDonald Distinguished Faculty Fellow at the Department of Economics, Finance, and Legal Studies at the University of Alabama, USA. He completed his MA and Ph.D. in economics at Michigan State University in 1991. Prior to joining the University of Alabama in 2003, Professor Lee served as an Assistant Professor at Vanderbilt University and as an Associate Professor at the University of Central Florida. His research primarily focuses on time series econometrics, financial economics, and empirical macroeconomics. He has published extensively in academic journals such as the Review of Economics and Statistics, International Economic Review, Econometric Theory, Journal of Applied Econometrics, Econometric Reviews, Journal of Money, Credit, and Banking, Oxford Bulletin of Economics and Statistics, Journal of Time Series Analysis, Journal of Environmental Economics and Management, Journal of Health Economics, and Studies in Nonlinear Dynamics and Econometrics.
In 2018, he was the President of the Korea-America Economic Association. He has also been an Associate Editor for the Journal of Empirical Finance, Economic Modelling, and the Journal of Economics and Finance, and serves on the editorial boards of several related journals. In 2024, he received the Maekyung-KAEA Economist Award from the Maekyung Media Group in Korea, recognizing his excellence in economic research.
Professor Lee has made a significant impact on the field, with over 12,000 Google Scholar citations. His paper, “Minimum Lagrange Multiplier Unit Root Test with Two Structural Breaks,” has been cited 3,600 times and is among the top 10 most cited papers in the Review of Economics and Statistics. His achievements have also earned him a place on Elsevier - Stanford University's 2024 World's Top 2% Scientists list.
