Troubleshoot:Access is Denied error message when installing printer software. Error

Access is Denied error message when installing printer software.

I am trying to install the software that came with the HP Officejet 6310 All-in-one.  My OS is Windows XP Media Center, Service Pack 3.  It's my home computer and the printer is connected via USB cable.  It's not a network setup.  I used the software CD
that came with the printer and was able to install it correctly on my other computer which is my work laptop that was given to me by my Company so I don't believe there's anything wrong with the software.
I spent many hours yesterday with HP Tech Support and they tell me the problem is due to me not being the Administrator of my computer.  I don't know why I wouldn't be the Administrator for my own, personal computer but since I had no problem installing
the software on my work laptop I know it's not a problem with the software.  There must be something wrong with my Windows setup.
I went on line yesterday and found some forums that gave me instructions on how to set up an Administrator user name and I did that but I must have done it incorrectly because now I have two user names (me and Administrator) and they're both showing up as
administrators.  I tried installing the software while I was logged on as the Administrator but got the same error message.
I uninstalled what little bits had installed before the error message and deleted the HP folder from my hard drive, and restarted my computer between each software load attempt.  I get the error message at exactly the same point every time.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
