Junhui Hou holds a B.Eng. degree in information engineering (Talented Students Program) from the South China University of Technology (SCUT), Guangzhou, China (2006 -- 2009), an M.Eng. degree in signal and information processing from Northwestern Polytechnical University (NPU), Xi’an, China (2009 -- 2012), and a Ph.D. degree from the School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore (2012 -- 2016). He joined the Department of Computer Science at CityU as an Assistant Professor in 2017. Dr. Hou's research interests include visual computing, such as image/video/3D geometry representation, processing and analysis, graph structure learning, and data compression and adaptive streaming. He has received several prestigious awards, including the IEEE SPS Best Paper Award in 2025, the NSFC Excellent Scientists Fund in 2024, the IEEE Multimedia Rising Star Award in 2023, the Early Career Award from the Hong Kong Research Grants Council in 2018, Chinese Government Award for Outstanding Students Study Abroad in 2015. Dr. Hou is a senior member of IEEE.
