Svalbard Lodge 2-33 was chartered on January 3, 1935. We are one of seven Sons of Norway Lodges in Alaska. We selected the name Svalbard, because at the time, we were the Northernmost lodge in the Sons of Norway organization.

Prior to 1935, during the days of the Treadwell Mine operation, there were two Sons of Norway Lodges in the area.  Northern Lights Lodge in Douglas and Goldbelt Lodge in Juneau, but both lodges closed when the gold mine closed in the 1920's.
